What’s new in software release 2.12?
Today we released software release2.12. It is a small release which does not include any new feature but rather fixes and updates to the current software release. Herewith an overview of what is in this release:
1.Connection Manager GUI Improvements
The One and Only ipod
To simplify the process of creating a network connection to the iDS, several improvements have been made in the connection manager. These improvements focus on providing more feedback to the user when an error occurs.

2. Support for Tables in Mobipocket files
Converted Mobipocket documents which contain tables are now rendered correctly. However there is currently no solution to navigate a table that is wider than the screen.
3. Support for Mobipocket folder on external memory
You can now create a ‘books\Mobipocket folder on MMC, CF or USB memory. This folder will act the same way as the Mobipocket folder located on the internal memory, so dictionaries will also work from any of these locations now.
4. Automatic connect to open WiFi Network disabled.
After software release 2.11 a number of people complained about their iLiad connecting automatically to public unsecured WiFi networks. This can now be disabled in the iLiad settings menu. This will stop the device from automatically using any unsecured WiFi network to connect to iDS.
5. Bug Fixes
This release also includes a number of bug fixes that were reported and some small stability improvements.
The release notes can be downloaded here.

Thanks for the new release, it’s nothing but all hard work!
But I’m disappointed that the bug of MMC/CF card activity interfering with Wifi connection remains unfixed. Opening a PDF file from CF card will immediately break any existing Wifi connection, every time. Others and I have reported this bug in the iRex forum a month ago.
Hopefully somebody will work it out for the next update!
Is there anywhere on the net that I can download the 2.12 software directly and not through the IDS? When I use the IDS and it upgrades my software, it sends the Iliad into a permanent start-up loop where it never makes it to a home screen. Repeats until the battery goes dead
Maybe if I can download the update and install directly onto my Iliad from my PC this will work?
I have some comments about the Iliad since I just got my book edition.
To begin with, the price (500€) it’s quite high, I’m glad to pay for it, I’m just wishing to get a really good device, I love the e-ink screen, but that is to credit to someone else, from Irex I’m expecting a company that will put together a software to get the most out of that e-ink device (since this is the most expensive one aviable in the market).
So, what would I like to see?
-Full screen reading, with autozoom, I know there are some workarounds for this, there is some thirh party software for it, but I shouldn’t need to go and install some things since there is already an IDS that should do it for me, at leas give me the option to do it automatically without having to spend a whole afternoon trying to understand how to do it (I’m sorry, I’m a surgeon, I bought this to read a lot and I would apreciate if this thing saves me time instead of taking up my time).
-Native .chm reading, without having to convert it via mobipocket since it doesn’t work well…
-Faster startup, can it just consume power when I turn the page? just as it is supposed to be with e-ink??? i wouldn’t mind that it would take like 20 seconds to change the page if I didn’t change it after 10 minutes, but I do mind my battery draining while I read a page.
-I know is one of the niceties of the Iliad, but can I turn the pen off so it won’t consume power? I actually only wanted a big (somewhat) screen with 16 degrees of gray instead of the standard 4 the rest of devices have.
Thank you on advance if you take on account any of this.
Best regards
