Relocation of the iRex service organization to The Netherlands

August 29th, 2008 | Category: Services

Dear Customers,

In the recent months we have looked how we could improve the service to our customers and we have decided to relocate our service organization from Germany to our head office in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

iRex Beta Building HTC EindhovenThis allows us to centralize our service organization and provide a more personalized support experience by a designating a team of highly skilled technicians who are more familiar with the products, the circumstances, require fewer explanations and are able to solve a broad-range of issues.

As a result we would like to inform you about a number of changes that will take place from Saturday 30 August onward.

The current 9:00 to 12:00 (CET) phone support will be discontinued until further notice.
Considering that we only receive a very small volume of support request via the phone and the European opening hours only partially suit international customers, we have decided to discontinue the current phone support as is.

Kindle 2.0 rumors continue

The web seems to be buzzing with Amazon

news recently. Yesterday we learned that Shelfari, a social network for book lovers, has been acquired by Amazon.  Now BusinessWeek claims knowledge of a new 2.0 base model that, “is significantly thinner, has a better screen, is more stylish and includes fixes to some of the user interface annoyances,” and all this at reduced price of $299 (currently $359).

The least we can conclude is that Jeff Bezos seems to be serious about making the Kindle a long-term success, and in my opinion that is not such a bad thing.

Since the launch of the first Kindle we have noticed a significant increase in awareness  in the media and within the publishing industry. One of the results of this is that publishers have come to realize that if they want a piece of the e-reading pie, they will have to keep up with Amazon and in the coming two years we will see a rapid growth of this whole industry with several other big names throwing their weight in the scales.
