This is a good gesture, but how much does it cost to keep the subscriptions coming.
In the case that someone is giving the DR1000 as a christmas present: Hopefully the new updates fix a lot of the little problems and bugs currently on the DR1000, or it will be a poor present.
Of course if people buy it in time for christmas it will not be shipped with the 1.03 software upgrade so it will be necessary to either open it up and upgrade it before wrapping or just wait until after christmas to upgrade it. Personally I would say upgrade BEFORE wrapping it or the recipient may be very discouraged about their new gift. Though in the long run this will definitely be a great product!

There will be a voucher in every iRex DR1000 sold over the coming weeks and months that will contain instructions on how to activate your free subscription. We will also post instructions on our website next week for all current owners.

    Thanks for the offer, Karel!

Does this means that that the daily newspaper from NRC Handelsblad is also available in the same way as it is for the Iliad (through the Inbox)? Or is this just another layout or way of downloading?

I would far rather Irex spent development time on actually producing the PC companion software that is described in the manual. I really think you should try to deliver software you have already sold before you create more.

In my opinion it is very inconvenient to download the paper to the memory card on a PC and then to open it on another device. Iliad or the reader with wifi would be absolutely necessary.

Thats fantastic. Personally I am happy with the current software, knowing that you deliver updates & improvements every few months. I use my iRex DR on daily basis and and came back trough it to read classic novels. Newspapers for free are even greater.

well, if it is such a disaster as NRC ePaper appears on the iLiad V2, your not the lucky one…
the communication troubles between NRC and iRex are so big…they did not solve any problem in half a year!
troubles like: No wifi, no complete text, mixed text, not working links etc.

but..NRC ePaper promised to start a new methode in 2009. An all subscribers will have a free extension of subscription during the time all these problems are solved.
