I installed the PressReader application, downloaded a few papers and tried to read them on the DigitalReader … well, forget about it. Just buy a hardcopy if you want to ENJOY reading a newspaper. PressReader just allows you to have a page overview or to zoom-in to a fixed level and then you will start panning around. This software is a useless toy and I am certainly not willing to waste my time with reading a paper that way. I want to tap on an article with the stylus and then it shall be reformatted to the display for proper reading … just in an e-book style. You should not dare to bother users with that peeping-through-a-magnifying-glass nonsense. Rather invest your efforts in getting the firmware debugged! I’m not amused and I’m far far away from joining into an e-paper subscription.

Why are you guys wasting time on useless features like these when we desperately need the fundamental firmware issues addressed? I thought we were going to get 1.5 out by the end of the year? Is iRex facing financial troubles? It seems like that’s the only explanation given the short-sighted “revenue above customers” approach apparently taken with releasing a new subscription feature instead of fixing the fundamental product flaws. Yuck. :(
