IREX turns page on eReaders with latest Digital Reader
This morning Hans Brons, co-founder and CEO of IREX Technologies unveiled the latest IREX Digital Reader, a sleek 8.1-inch touch-screen eReader with 3G wireless capabilities. The devices allows users to purchase books, newspapers or magazines from a wide variety of sources, in addition it supports multiple formats including industry standard ePub format and multiple DRM solutions, rather than a single, “closed” proprietary format that locks content to a specific device.
My Stepmother Is an Alien movies The IREX device is supported by key partner Barnes & Noble, Inc, Best Buy, Qualcomm and Verizon Wireless, which together provide access to the content, retail presence and the most reliable wireless network in the US, setting the IREX DR800SG apart in an increasingly competitive market.

Key Product Specifications:
- Big screen, compact design – some competitie devices offer a similarly-sized device but with a much smaller display area. IREX’s 8.1-inch screen is ideal for books, magazines and newspapers with detailed graphics.
- Purpose-built device – the DR800SG uses the latest electronic paper display technology to deliver an experience that is closer to reading ordinary paper than possible with a netbook or tablet device. It also has longer battery life and is lightweight.
- Easy navigation – the device turns pages faster than competing products, and navigation is easy with an interactive touch screen and straightforward buttons. Users can search their library or add a bookmark with a tap of a stylus or skim an eBook with a touch of a thumb.
- Customized reading – users can enlarge or reduce text size and margin widths or select portrait or landscape mode to suit their preferences.
The IREX DR800SG with a leather cover will be available in October at select Best Buy locations. The device has a MSRP of $399.00. Wireless access to download content is included in the cost of the DR800SG and no contract is required.
IREX is talking with several parties in Europe that are interested to work together and at the Frankfurt Book Fair later this year you can expect a statement about the plans for Europe.
In the meantime if you like to stay up to date with the latest news, make sure to join us on Facebook page or follow our Twitter.

Will I be able to purchase this in Canada? What are your plans for Canada?
How about note taking capabilities? Is there a dictionary included? If so, which one?
Thanks for the answers! This device looks great and I am looking forward to its release.
I live in Vancouver, British Columbia. Will the e-reader device work wirelessly for me?
I have 3 questions about the reader if you don’t mind. #1 Will it be available at the same time from your website.
#2 What is the expected battery life in page turns or hours.
#3 Is it possible to navigate to a book and begin reading without the stylus?
@Matthew
The new IREX reader will initially only be available in the U.S., next month on the Frankfurt Book Fair we will announce our further plans for the IREX DR800.
@Max
Note taking capabilities are not yet enabled, initially we wanted to focus on the reading experience. However we plan to add the functionality via a firmware update.
Yes, the Merriam-Webster dictionary.
@Ann Barrett
Not at launch, the IREX reader is initially launched in the U.S. only.
@craig
#1 No at launch it will only be available via Best Buy stores.
#2 Approx.6000 page turns or several days, but the exact battery life depends largely on the usage pattern.
#3 Absolutely, with just a thumb on the rocker bar you can navigate the menu, open a book, add a bookmark, change fonts , etc…
You guys look to have a winner on your hands with this one. As an early iLiad adopter and someone who feels the eight inch screen is the ideal size for general reading I can’t wait to pick one of these up. I do have a question/concern. Does this device support sleep/suspend like the Kindle and Sony devices. Having to wait for around a minute to startup does not make for a great reading experience.
Yes it does. It takes about 3 seconds to restart from sleep mode.
What about the special letters (Ő, Ű…)?
Karel,
Thanks for the immediate response to my question. I’ll definitely be in line to pick one up on launch day!
Please, do sell the item in Europe as soon as possible. I am convinced that the form factor and the future feature of taking notes will highly be appreciated by many customers here.
Best regards from Germany
This seems to be a great device, esp for academic usage, given Irex strength in displaying pdf as well as in note taking. Please do sell this device in Europe from October, there is no need to wait until you have sorted out the 3G connection across the continent – people will buy this immediately even if the 3G plans come in later. As a Dutch company, you could sell the device via your website. As a PhD student in Germany, I am very sure that there will be many academic early adopters!
does this have wifi as well? if so, which wifi standard will it supportß
This device seems ideal in many ways. However, as I need to take notes, I am not going to purchase it until the firmware update is released.
FANTASTIC!!!!! I’ve been putting off buying a Kindle/Sony because the 6″ screens are too small and the Kindle DX is too big with all those keys. This is perfect. I really don’t care about any other functions, eg, notes, as I want a BOOK READER. However, I understand the need for some of these functions for others so I’m glad for them that you’re going to add them as time goers on. Good marketing, get the book reader function out and add the “frills” later.
When will detailed specs be release?
1/ Screen resolution (I suspect 1024×786/16 shades)?
2/ Cpu type / speed / ram?
3/ SD or MicroSD?
4/ Can we quickly switch between several opened documents like on the DR1000S?
This device seems fantastic indeed … I want one!
I just don’t understand the reason to only release in the USA first, and put the rest of the word on-hold. After Amazon, Sony and a few others, iRex is the next company which seems to think Europeans (and everybody else) are 2rd rate.
I guess I wouldn’t be this annoyed if I still had my iLiad. But after 3 years I just managed to break its screen by dropping it, and repairing it costs $400, so I thought I’d better buy the new device instead … But it appears I’ll have to wait several months; I’m not interested in the 3G stuff, and I think there are a lot of other people that think alike.
So here’s one question: Is there any hardware or software change necessary for a European release? If a friend on mine bought me one in the USA, would I be able to use it fully after the European launch?
I think we will need to wait for the DR800SGW for wifi, if you follow the convention for the DR1000, DR1000S, DR1000SW…
S = Stylus, G = 3G, W = WIFI
In the photo, I see the indentation in the left side for attaching the cover, but I don’t see any indentation on the right side. So does this mean that it is impossible to put on the cover so the page controls are not blocked by the spine of the cover?
Hi, nice looking device!
Two related memory questions:
1. Does it have “on-board” memory, if so, how much?
2. Does it have “removable” memory, if so, what kind?
Hello,
I read above that an English Webster dictionary will be included. I assume that since it will be released in Europe at some point, there will be a way to substitute the English dictionary for another language if so desired?
@curious
The IREX DR800SG only supports 3G connectivity, so no WiFi connectivity.
@badbob001
Soon, I can already confirm that the screen resolution is: 1024×786 pixel and 16 levels of gray).
The IREX DR800SG is optimized for book reader with a simplified interface and advanced functionality as with the IREX DR1000S, like switching between multiple documents is not possible.
@Bert
The 3G model from Qualcomm supports worldwide 3G connectivity. So if we would launch a 3G connected device in Europe, the hardware would be identical.
@Archie
It has kinda both, the memory is a removable 2GB SD card which is located behind the battery and can be replaced by bigger SD cards.
I’ve read this on another website: “The microSD slot is packed with the rechargeable battery on the rear of the unit. It looks like you have to screw off the battery cover, which is unfortunate.”
Is this correct? And if it is, WHY?
I’m using quite a lot of my own pdf’s, and without a wifi connection the easiest to put external files on the device would be swapping the the SD card. Otherwise the only way to pass data to the device seems to be an USB cable.
This device does really look the business…. and you need to get it to market everywhere quickly. Just go after the US and you will be head to head with sony and amazon…. In Europe and the UK you will be the ONLY reader with 3g inside….
BTW please please make sure best buy will ship to Europe… and you can have my credit card details today!
I want it yesterday. When will it be available at BestBuy stores. I can’t wait to have it in my hands…
Can the device be rotated 180 degrees so I can use my right hand to turn pages? I understand that this is not possible in your previous products.
The first quality ebook reader on the market that gives me the ability to substitute the default English dictionary for a Spanish dictionary I will buy. Until then I will continue to use my Laptop with the MobiPocket reader software which gives me this ability.
Love the look of your new reader. Perfect size and all about the book, with no distractions. I’m planning on purchasing my first e-book reader and would love a DR800SG but I would really like to have my new reader for a trip I’m taking in early November. When it says “Coming to select Best Buy stores in October” how widespread a coverage is that going to be? I saw some suggestions that it would be VERY select and there wouldn’t really be availability until closer to Thanksgiving in most places. I’m in Houston and was wondering if it will make it to any of the Best Buy stores here in October?
Also, what are the overall dimensions of the DR800SG?
Thanks
It’s a pity that your are not considering selling this devide in Europr sinde the first day. I may have to give a try to the Kindle that they are nor shipping abroad.
Amazon just dropped the Kindle 2 price to $249. They are obviously feeling the heat. Tempting price though – $249 for Kindle 2 vs $399 for DR800SG. Decisions, decisions. $349 for DR80SG and you’ve got a deal
Please do well to make this available in Germany on time, but not only in german language, because there are foreigners here who would also like to have it in english. I do however have a question.
Can documents be printed directly onto the DR800SG as it is with the DR1000S?
Wish you Success.
Thanks.
can you let me know when it will be avaiable in Australia?
Currently we can obtain Iliads from DA Direct . Will they be able to supply this model?
If it is not coming to Australia soon, may I purchase on via the Irex website?
Please make sure you sell this device in Germany asap. Karel, could you let us know when you ll release it here and/or if it could be ordered directly from you in October/November?
Great device, nonsensical release policy: There is a slew of new readers here in Europa after the Frankfurt Book Fair – so please let us know when you intend to sell in your home market!
Great eReader. But will it be possible, to purchase it also in Europe in the ende of 2009 (october release)?
Without any limitation except the 3G online function?
Best wishes for the product launch!
So is there zero change that this will be available, at a later time, at a Barnes & Noble store or at their website? I get better discounts from B&N than from Best Buy…
In the post you ask us to “expect statements about availability in europe” at the Frankfurt Book Fair. The fair is over, but there is no statement? lease just sell the reader without 3G plan in europe from october. As you can see, many ppl would buy!
Best Buy is now taking orders for the DR800SG at $449. I’m really disappointed that it’s $50 over the $399 MSRP that was stated in the press release. I don’t know if this is a result of the Dollar – Euro exchange rate, or just Best Buy being greedy. Since they’re currently the only supplier, they can pretty much charge what they want. One thing I am certain of though is that I’m not buying this at $50 over MSRP. Sorry iRex. I really like what you’ve come up with here which makes this all the more disappointing.
Anyone know why the $50 mark up from MSRP? shouldn’t the price go the other way?
DR800SG at $449… $50 mark up from MSRP…This is so wrong!!!. Still no answer from IREX. There has been many questions above and people are so exited about the product but interestingly no one from IREX cares to answer these questions. IREX has a great “Do not expect customer service” policy.
Regarding the $50 markup on the DS800SG at Best Buy, were you expecting a best buy at Best Buy? They are anything but that! Seriously, I would not buy it from them either over MSRP either. That is absurd. I do not see it offered on their website here in the USA though. It looks like a very nice e-reader and I am interested.
The DR800SG will be priced at $399- as originally stated. To kick things off though, we are going to be offering a limited edition model for $449 that will include a ton of free content to get your reading started, as well as other cool goodies. Stay tuned for a formal announcement soon.
Karel, thanks for this but could you please scroll through the comments and begin to answer some of the quesions that kept coming up, esp concerning a release in Canada and Europe? If you dont have a release date, please let people here in Europe know about warranty handling – if I order a device from the US (because I’d need it sooner than the vague release date next year),would I be able to send it in to your Dutch HQ for warranty handling? Please let us know and please try to answer some of the above more systematically. This place promises 2 way communication, so make sure it actually happens!
@Bert
That is correct. We wanted users to be able to upgrade the storage capacity. For data transfer the USB cable is the way to go.
@badboy001
It is possible to rotate between portrait and landscape mode.
@Maike13
More information on the availability of the DR800SG at Best Buy, will be announced shortly. It will also be available at bestbuy.com.
Overall dimensions are:
Width: 14,7cm or 5,8 inch
Height: 19 cm or 7,5 inch
Depth: 0,9 cm or 0,35 inch
@Roy
If you print to file on your PC and the IREX DR800SG is connected you can save the file on the reader, similar as with the IREX DR1000S.
@Suzanne,
IREX will launch a consumer device in at least one European market during the second quarter next year. We are talking with several partners that are interested to work with us but at this stage we can not yet make any announcements.
Other regions, such as the Australian or Canadian market, are subject to agreements with network providers.
Initially the DR800SG will only be available at Best Buy, but we do not exclude the possibility that it will be available at irexshop.com at a later stage.
@Karl
Correct and we definitely intend to launch the device in Europe but when and where is subject to agreements with local partners like network providers.
@Menelic
Warranty handling will be done in the US. So you will need to ship the device back to the US for service.
#1 I am looking for a reader to mostly bring notes with me to lectures. I can put my notes in PDF format (1/2 page 5 1/2 by 8 1/2) and need to be able to make sure I can read them as I am speaking. Will the DR800 be able to do this?
#2 Also, the blue light would be a distraction. Can it be turned off while i am in the lecture?
The device looks great and the size seems to be exactly what I’m looking for. I like that it is wider than the Sony!
Hi Karel,
thanks for answering, unfortunately you seem to have missed my main point: Like other posters here I do not care for initial 3G connectivity, but since your device is the best on the market for my purposes, I would like to buy one in Europe – before Christmas. In the fractured EU market, getting a 3G cooperation can take longer than many would be ready to wait. If you get that right later, we d gladly add your 3G chip and plan. Just make sure you release the device now – it will be bought at the US price, even without 3G.
IREX please: The device seems great, but I was hoping that you would learn from the past and avoid missing your release comittments or alienating people with dodgy communications and promises of features that are not implemented in your release firmware yet.
People here have repeated an important point over and over again: Eurpoean customers – of which I am one – are not interested in waiting for ages for a 3g plan. We gladly take the device without it. Karel, can you please answer above questions about that without referring to what people stated several times they do NOT need from the onset? Also, please explain to us when you inted to implement NOTE TAKING, a CORE FEATURE of the device which amazingly enough is not yet implemented?
NO NOTE TAKING?
Kael, I read online that note taking is not yet implemented on the device? Is that true? When will we be able to use that stylus you’re seling us for things other than navigation? Please provide a tentative date, not a vague reference to the “near future”.
I picked up a Sony PRS-600 today on my way home from work, even though I had planned on waiting for the DR800. Oddly enough, there was another guy at the store who said he was doing the exact same thing.
I understand that delays happen, but this total silence makes me feel like a chump for waiting in the first place. It’s a shame. You guys make some good products and have a several-year headstart, but I am starting to agree with the analysts who say that you are going to get steamrolled as soon as the eBook market matures. This kind of sloppy PR just proves that iRex isn’t ready to sit at the big kids’ table.
It’s already november and I can’t see this device on Best Buy’s homepages. Why???
I will give them until Monday, since it is the weekend, before I complain. I was also told, however, specifically by email that it would be available at Best Buy at the “end of October”
I saw NateTheGreat over at Mobileread.com say back on the 23rd that their local BestBuy was to get 2 in stock on November 3rd, so I don’t think we will see anything before then.
I too am very concerned at the lack of responses about general specs and release date. I called up my Best Buy today to see what he could tell me and he didn’t even know what I was talking about. He had never heard of the Irex, but he did offer me the Sony products. I have been looking at so many readers trying to make a decision and on its face this one is the best, but there is so little information I am starting to reconsider. When will we hear something solid regarding release dates and specs???
Great device, bad PR! I am surprised that an international company targeting business users would commit such blatant PR mistakes – people are waiting for the product, deadlines are missed without explanation, the paucity of responses on this blog is a public testimonial to the inability of IREX to conduct dedicated customer relations…IREx, pls sit up and use your chance to turn this around – globally,not just in the US!
I’ve been anxiously awaiting this device as well and was really hoping iRex could start meeting commitments, but it seems to be the same old thing once again. This product looks great and I understand issues come up, but there was a firm commitment from the CEO on end of October availability and now it is November with no additional information. It’s certainly making me re-think my decision and whether I should just wait for the new Sony with the 7″ screen.
Well, it is late Monday, 11/2, and still no DS800 on bestbuy.com, only Sony e-readers. I will check again tomorrow but it seems that this is a failure to adhere to the end of October release commitment. If it does not appear tomorrow, I am definitely giving up on Irex.
I agree with the comments above. DS800 appears to be a great product (considering what iRex told us about it). But the delay in the release and not being sold in Europe will make potential buyers go to other brands. Fortunately this winter there will be a lot of alternatives to iRex: Kindle 2 and DX in Europe, Nook, QueReader, Sony Daily, Asus, Cybook Opus, Txtr, iRiver Story… i think we have enough to choose and to stop reading this blog.
The Irex doesn’t answer to anybody here about the date. Why? I’m so disappointed. I’ve been waiting for this device for a month, and I would like to use it now, not on Christmas.
Saw on another forum that Irex are now saying “end of November” for the release date. That will work out nicely for those wishing to compare it to the Nook (to be released 30th Nov
Now they say end of November? I could compare it to the Nook now since all the Nooks specs are public. I will be looking at the Sony Daily Reader or Amazon’s Kindle, made by companies that are dependable.
Karel, IREX, if you think that you can safely ignore all the criticism above please note that you might be committing a fatal error – the ereader market is maturing, as great as your product might be, you can’t afford to steer this course much longer.You are alienating key multiplicators. By now we know more about mssed deadlines and unkept assurances than about the real-life availability of your product. You have not bothered to ask repeated questions about release dates, definite pricing, immediate availability in Europe, regardless of 3G…time is running out, provide definite answers now!
I am really disappointed in this company and the lack of information. I was looking forward to getting an ereader on a decent network, but would I ever hear from your company again if I bought your product? If we can’t trust your company to deliver on your promises or explain what’s going on, we can’t trust you to support the product or your customers.
I think most would understand if we knew what was going on, but since there is no candid information forthcoming from the company, there’s no reason to wait for a release that may not ever happen or an imaginary firmware upgrade.
I’ll find a reputable company to deal with and take my money elsewhere.
This would have been my first ereader. Oh, well.
I’m a patient fellow, but they really should say why it was delayed and when it will be available in this Blog somewhere. Even if they delayed it to resolve a bug in the firmware, that at least would show that they have concern for their customers and they did not want them to have a bad experience from the beginning.
My only concerns about the product itself are the battery life and the ability to take notes. At least on the first I can return it to Best Buy in the first 30 days. However the most they have indicated on note taking is that it won’t be until later. I would hope you would be able to take notes anyway, but perhaps the handwritten notes is the only part not working. I have not seen them say that though.
Karel, please say something in the defense of Irex.
Thanks
Etienne66
Irex sent me an e-mail … The release of the DR800SG has been delayed with +/- 3 weeks.
If I were Karel, I don’t know if I would answer any of your questions either! Does Irex own you all something? If a company makes a good product reward them by buying it. If their product is better and you buy something else for whatever reason, who is really hurt. For me, I can wait another three weeks to see how good the product is.
Looks like Sony’s new one will come out at the same time and I will buy the one that works best for me regardless of anything else.
How about being grateful for a company taking a risk and making a product you might really like!
– Stephen
How about Irex showing some respect for its potential customers about to take a risk in buying their new product by honoring their release date or at minimum informing us in the blog that they set up for communication the reason why it is delayed? Irex ought not to announce a release date that they are not sure they can honor. No, Irex certainly does not ‘owe’ me anything. Likewise, I do not owe Irex my continued patience. I have just bought the Kindle 2.
I already own a Kindle 2. I will probably wait and buy the DR800SG because the closest thing to it is the Sony PRS900, but there are many things I like more about the Irex, at least on paper.
Does Irex owe its potential customers an explanation for the delay? Yes, because it is common courtesy.
Will I buy the DR800SG without this information? Probably, but only because Best Buy has a return policy. I would feel better about my decision if Irex were more forthcoming with answers.
Thanks,
Etienne66
Much of the response I expected to see. Enjoy your Kindle 2 Terry. I will wait for the Irex and Sony to hit the US market. How they are expected to handle PDF’s will do what I need a reader to do, and the Kindle couldn’t even touch their functionality.
I am going to wait for QUE from Plasticlogic which seems to be an amazing product to compare 2 products. And I am hoping Irex will stop censoring the messages that they dont like.
I understand the reactions, and we are just as impatient to put our products in the stores but unfortunately there have been some delays that were out of our control. We hope to resolve these in the coming days and at that point we will be able to provide you with an accurate release date. As it currently stands I would say mid-November, but that is not yet official.
As soon as there is more clarity I will be the first to share it here. Thanks for your patience in the meantime.
Thank you. I, and many others, excitedly await further news..
I am also surprised IREX already announced that they will release a color eReader in 2011. That is a great news but I have some concerns. When they can not predict the release date of their already existing product (DR800SG) how can they be sure that a color eReader will be released in 2 years. They just should not manipulate the market with the fault or uncertain information. I am sure Sony and other companies are also working on color eReader and they just do not announce it publicly. In my opinion IREX has serious PR problems…
Now I’m really screwed! My Iliad stopped working completely this afternoon. I think it has something to do with the on off switch on the bottom that broke off several weeks ago. Using a paperclip to turn it on and off worked… until today. I guess I’ll have to wrestle the Kindle back from my wife… but I’m out of luck as far as my Courtroom work is concerned. Back to the old paper and pencil, I guess. I hopw the DR800 will do what my Iliad could do (before the meltdown)!
oops… I spoke too soon… The paperclip seems to be working again! THANK HEAVENS!
Thanks, Karel. I can wait for one-two weeks.
Its mid november – please provide more info, so we can plan with the device!
thanks
I think the Sony doesn’t let Best Buy to sell the Irex’s new gadget sooner, than theirs.
I read on another forum that they won’t be releasing the 800sg until mid December.
I would suggest that if we really want timely information that we write customer service. I asked them a question and they responded to me within 24 hours with a clear answer.
so would you mind to share your answer with those of us who have not received a reply?
Here is there e-mail they sent me. I don’t know if I believe the release date, but the sony store information was what I had asked for.
“Dear Gretchen,
Thank you for showing interest in our product.
The DR800SG will be available end of November and can be bought at Best
Buy USA.
When the Sony books use epub or pdf yes than you can download and read
those books on our reader.
With Barnes and Noble we have a special deal, so yes this format will be
supported for sure.”
end of october… middle november… end of november… before Christmas…
Which Christmas?
I got almost an identical email from Irex saying mid-December. I have seen nothing more recent than that.
That’s enough. I’ll buy a Sony. Any kind of…
I’ll buy a book reader this monday. I wish a DR800, but i guess it will be a Kindle DX. It’s a pit.
It is a pity indeed! I don’t own an e-reader yet, but I’m definitely planning to get my first one for Xmas, and it won’t be the DR800. Anyway, I live in Austria and Europeans seem to be second-class citizens after all.
It is true, Irex just can’t do marketing! I mean: still no official word about battery life-time and the taking-notes feature… appalling! Just look at their product description, just babble, no (proper) Tech-Specs!
PS: almost forgot to mention that Karel also seems to have given up (last post: 5th November).
Yep, I gave up a month ago and bought a Kindle 2. I love it. The DR800 is a dream unfulfilled and a lost opportunity.
A contact at Best Buy told me there are big problems, but wouldn’t give me more details. It seems like iRex is intentionally stringing us along in hopes that we won’t make other purchases.
I really like my Sony Touch Edition. The screen is a bit smaller than I’d like, but the interface is great.
I think you’re right, since they’ve already missed two of these “unofficial” dates, plus the original “official” one. I think if Irex knew when the DR800 would be available there would have been an official announcement by now. Since both Sony and Barnes and Noble seem to be having supply issues with their readers, I’d suspect this is where Irex’s problem is too, although it could also be a problem with the Verizon contract, since Verizon are infamous for playing hardball with their contract partners. Until Irex announce a new ship date officially (not via individual e-mails to customers), or the DR800 actually appears at Best Buy again, I think we can safely assume the it’s delayed indefinitely.
I personally find the Touch’s screen unacceptably reflective, but whether or not this bothers you will vary from individual to individual.
I’m hoping the Nook will prove acceptable, although it doesn’t sound like that will be easy to come by until January or later.
Perhaps Irex will get this solved by then.
An email from Irex regarding the release date:
Thank you for contacting us.
The release of the DR800SG has been slightly delayed and will be
available mid Januari and can be bought at Best Buy USA.
Not all Best Buy stores are informed, so it might happen that when you
contact them they are not aware of the DR800SG, their head office will
soon inform all stores.
I hope this information is sufficient, if there are any questions don’t
hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,
iRex Technologies
“The release of the DR800SG has been slightly delayed…”
I laughed. Haven’t we heard that line before?
What I think Irex might miss, other than the Christmas buying season, is that many new and more advanced products will be showcased at the CES show in Vegas in January. At least I would have thought Irex would have released a limited number of the DR800 (which I call the Odyssey) for consumers to get their hands on the device and review it on the major websites. But, alas, Irex is Irex, after all.
Hi
I was near to buy an iLiad when discovered the DR800 announce, so I’m really waiting for an european release date, BUT…
1) hope annotation and sketching functions will be implemented soon, cause these are the reasons I was buying the iLiad.
2) what about lefthanded people? due to the design of the reader I think could be easy to implement a setting to flip the visualization and use the reader with the bar on the left.
Saw the price for the DR800S at $600. Is that going to be the price for the DR800SG in the US? If so, I am disappointed to have waited. I like the wider screen of the Irex, but with no note taking feature yet there is certainly not enough reason to spend so much more money that the $400 Sony.
Any book lending capability?
The DR800SG is $400 and now available from best buy.
