Adobe PDF and EPUB support coming Q4
The Heaven Project ipod I know many of you have been eagerly anticipating Adobe PDF and EPUB support. With the recent commotion around the latest addition to the digital reader family, it might have seem that we have forgotten about this.

IREX has always and continues to promote an open/standard DRM solution. We believe that consumers should be able to purchase books, magazines and newspapers from a variety of stores and should be able to take that content from one device to another.
Unfortunately the relationship of Adobe and Mobipocket DRM’s is an exclusive one, and both can not be supported on one device at the same time. In order to ensure that our customers are not limited in any way from obtaining the content they desire to view on their eReader, we have decided to keep the old firmware with Mobipocket DRM available. This means that you as a customer can decide if you like to run Mobipocket or Adobe DRM on your device.

Today we released software version 1.6 for the iRex Digital Reader 1000S and it is now available for download. For more information on how to update your device see the support website

This new release will introduce an improved and unobtrusive ‘Standby Mode’. The device will not longer indicate the ‘zZz’ icon on the toolbar, but it will just go into ‘Standby Mode’ after a number of seconds predefined by the user. With a tap on the sensors or with the stylus on the touchscreen, the device will immediatly wake up. It also allowed us to save another 10 to 15% on the Battery life.
In addition to the improved ‘Standby Mode’, this release will also include the PressReader V2 application from NewspaperDirect, which comes with enhanced navigation features, easy-to-read text views, article hyperlinks and interactive tables of content.

iRex has reached an agreement with Adobe to license new PDF technology and EPUB file format plus Adobe’s content protection technology for the iRex Digital Reader 1000 series.

iRex Companion Software v2 Available
A new version of the iRex Companion Software is available for download today. Version 2 of the Companion Software will introduce new functions like rename, copy, move and delete to the Document Management menu and an Inbox menu
. Via the Inbox menu you will be able to connect to the iDS for content downloads.

Today we released software version 1.03 which will install the PressReader application on the iRex Digital Reader 1000. With the PressReader application you can access and read over 820 newspaper titles from PressDisplay.com.
As a Christmas gift, NewspaperDirect and iRex offer all existing and new owners of an iRex Digital Reader, a 1 month free subscription to PressDisplay.com on their Digital Reader. For more information on this offer go here .
This software release will not introduce any other enhancements, these are scheduled for software release 1.5, which will include a number of major enhancements, including advanced power management (standby mode), a user customizable toolbar and many more.

, on Thursday 11 December iRex Technologies will launch the PressReader application for the iRex DR1000 and as an added Christmas gift will offer a one month, free of charge, subscription to the 820 newspaper titles from PressDisplay.

The second minor software update for the iRex Digital Reader 1000 series is available. It is a small update that solves the following issues.
- IC firmware update for improved battery life and more accurate level indication
This makes sure the battery management IC is correctly configured for the type of battery used in the device. After a full charge and discharge cycle, you will notice that the battery life has now improved and the battery level indicator is more reliable. - Scribble Waveform update for smoother writing
This updates the Delta waveform used during writing to fix a problem that resulted in a non-optimal writing experience. Scribbled curves will now look smoother.

This software update is part of an ongoing process to improve the overall performance of the iRex Digital Reader 1000, more software updates can be expected in the near future including advanced power management that will introduce a standby and sleep mode on the iRex Digital Reader 1000.

, NewspaperDirect Sam’s Lake film has announced it’s plans to bring the PressReader software to the iRex Digital Reader 1000 series, allowing readers to download their favorite daily newspaper from NewspaperDirect and read them on the iRex Digital Reader 1000.

Earlier this month we released the first set Blessed release IMurders dvdrip of the yet unreleased source codes of the iRex iLiad. Today we added some additional sources, including:
- Jump! movie download
- pageBar
- erbusy
- settings
- scribble
- powerMgr
- Kernel Drivers (delta, buttons and battery)
The sources of the connectionMgr and pcshareMgr are still on our ToDo list and will follow shortly and this will conclude the release of the iLiad sources, excluding third party applications (like Mobipocket and Vision Objects Writepad) and the iDS connection library and downloadMgr, which will not be released for security reasons.

A little week after we released A Kid for Two Farthings ipod the souce codes and SDK for the iRex DR1000 and the first community development is a fact.
Yesterday Adam B. released the first installer of FBReader for the iRex Digital Reader 1000s. This is immediately also the first third party application on the iRex DR1000.
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford ipod For those who aren’t familiar with FBReader, it is an eBook reader software that supports a number of formats, including but limited to: ePub, HMTL, CHM, plucker, Palmdoc and RTF.
